The End of the Summer

Here it is--the end of the summer. I just have to keep reminding myself of all the good things to come--apple picking, leaf piles, sledding....It's hard to focus on these things.

Augie's second birthday. He asked for a train cake, but tractors were kind of the theme as far as presents went.

On our way to what was probably one of the final trips to the beach, but man was it a perfect afternoon there.

More Summer Highlights

Casey put a swing up in the backyard, and Augie can't get enough of it! The mosquitoes have tried to keep him off of it, but he won't let them win.

Another highlight was going to the train park in Hudson and riding on the model trains. A little dangerous perhaps, but very fun. Trains are a close second to tractors in Augie's book.

Hanging with his buddies, Eli and Henry, at the train park.

Summer 2010

Augie has kept us very busy this summer--he never allows for a dull moment. Casey got a skateboard for Christmas, and Augie loves it. He asks "Go skateboarding, Daddy?" quite often.

Augie has also become obsessed with tractors. He can't get enough of them. He watches them on You Tube, he asks for them every time we are in the car, he loves playing with his toy tractors, and he loves pretending to drive the tractors at the zoo and at his grandpa Gannett's.

We went out for many a wagon ride this summer.

Augie got out for lots of bike rides. This is Augie and Henry on their way to the park.

Our trip to the Cabin

Our next summer adventure was a trip to the Hayward area with the Phernetton side of the family. We all stayed at a cabin together and we fished, and ate, and played cards, and fished, and ate some more. We had a really good time! This is from the fishing museum in Hayward.

Fishing on the dock with grandpa and mom.

This is James sleeping on the couch with Louie. Augie loved Louie and thought James was pretty cool when James wasn't growling at him. (for those of you who don't know, Louie is the dog and James is the person)

The Beginning of the Summer

The summer started off with a trip to Vermont for our friends' wedding. Aaron and Kristen got married at a beautiful park on a perfect day. Augie was a little overwhelmed with all the traveling and people, but his mom and dad had a great time seeing old friends. Augie also got to do a lot of cool stuff. In this first picture he's hanging with his friend Tamsin on the shore of Lake Champlain. They got to climb all over the rocks after the wedding.

He also got to play in this very cool treehouse--we all wanted to move in. It is probably bigger than our house.

And, he got to fly. He wsa an excellent flier. We lucked out and had moms sitting next to us on our planes. One held Augie so he could look out the window and the other insisted that he put his legs on her lap while he was trying to sleep. They were very sweet and surprisingly the plane rides were the easiest part of the trip for Augie.

End of Spring

I know I'm terrible about keeping up with this--I only get to it when something in the air moves me and I have the time. These are just some picture from the end of the spring (a long time ago already). I realize this blog may not have any followers at this point, but if you're reading this it means you've checked in and found a pleasant surprise!

This is from a trip to the zoo with mom and grandma. We had a pretty great time at the petting zoo in the farm. I think Augie was challenging this cow to an ice cream eating contest.

Grover is such a good, lazy dog!

Woah!

Oh, Augie is so much fun. Here he is hamming it up yet again. Some of his best things are wearing glasses, pointing out tractors and busses, blowing bubbles, throwing the ball for Grover, reading books, listening for airplanes, pushing his lawn mower, and giving knuckle bumps. We can't wait for summer, for swimming and beaches, and playing in the sandbox--just a few weeks away.

One of the most exciting things that's happened recently is that Augie became a cousin! Little David was born on April 1st. Augie seems to really love the baby--we're looking forward to the time when they can run around together.
Easter egg decorating--this was the first dip and the only gentle one. After this Augie was more into throwing the eggs into the dye and then trying to squish them.
Henry came over for the morning. They got silly on the couch. This was probably after running in circles with the popper and stick horse.
Augie and Grover. Too cute.
